Ochiairo, established in 1874 (Meiji period), is a registered tagible cultural property. A samurai called Tesshu Yamaoka named the place after its unique location where two rivers meet.
Since its establishment, the lodge has been loved by many world famous writers and artists, including
Katai Tayama and Toson Shimazaki in Meiji,
Yasunari Kawabata and Motojiro Kajii in Taisho,
Bokusui Wakyama and Hakushu Kitaharain Showa.
Ochiairo welcomes you with warm anticipations, as it has always been.
